Kai & I

Kai&I was started by two sisters, Laura & Melissa in 2018. Laura spent a summer in Africa for an internship. On this journey Laura was able to spend time with multiple tribes across Uganda and Kenya. This is where she encountered the Maasai tribe in Kenya and learned about their way of life and these women of the tribe's unmatched beading techniques. She purchased a hand-crafted beaded leather dog collar for her sister, knowing how much Melissa loves handmade artisan goods and her dog Kai. The rest is history! Once Laura gifted Melissa the collar she brought back from Kenya Melissa, being a fashion designer and entrepreneur, had never seen such exquisite craftsmanship. She knew we had to share these wearable pieces of art with the world! We contacted these Maasai artisans who agreed to work with us on sampling and creating a new line. The first group we bought the first collar from is the same group of women we have working with us today! We are very happy to be able to provide jobs and steady income for these women and their families! In 2020 we decided that we would expand and work with more artisans around the world to share their craftsmanship through what we know and love, DOGS! We are very excited to be working on new product lines and bringing the best quality handmade products to you and your furry friend! At Kai&I as we expanded our product ranges, our mission stays the same, to make the most amazing pet accessories you have ever seen crafted by artisans around the world. By working directly with these artisans we are able to provide steady income for them and their families, something that we pride ourselves on.
